Andreas Bollmann supports workshop on ‘Strengthening Community Resilience to Climate Change & Disaster Risk’

Andreas Bollmann, Partner at Faber Consulting, recently supported the implementation of a two-day workshop on 'Strengthening Community Resilience to Climate Change and Disaster Risk' in Kohima, Nagaland, India. He presented on the value proposition of disaster risk insurance and chaired a technical session on climate change and disaster risk reduction.

About 100 government officials attended the workshop which aimed to strengthen community resilience in managing climate and disaster risks. The meeting was organized by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) in collaboration with InsuResilience Solutions Fund, Swiss Re and Tata AIG.

Since the beginning of 2020, Faber Consulting provides disaster risk finance and insurance (DRFI) consulting services to NSDMA on an ongoing basis. In 2021, the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF), managed by the Frankfurt School of Finance Management and funded by KfW Development Bank, signed a grant agreement to support the development of an insurance scheme for Nagaland's State Disaster Response Mitigation Fund (SDRMF). By co-financing the development costs for the insurance products in Nagaland, the InsuResilience Solutions Fund is supporting a sub-sovereign disaster risk transfer lighthouse project in India.

Project partners are the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), local insurance company Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited, Swiss Re as reinsurance partner and Faber Consulting as project coordinator. ISF is co-financing the implementation phase through grants.
